Dull and listless, Patches serves as a referee to the notorious Ring of Justice, an underground church-run fighting arena and execution pit. After an accident leaves him with some time off, he begins an investigation that uncovers his old friend Val. He begins to think Val is exactly what he needs to turn his life around, but diving into the past may reveal things that should have stayed hidden.

Loose side-character-prequel to Patch of Red, takes place after Pep Talk.
