Old Mr. Fox was a piece of work.

He had nine tails, so maybe he was one of those super old foxes from the North, but that meant he was being extra stupid for playing a prank on his wife. He faked his death and hid in the house to see what she would do.

She did what she was supposed to and was sad and locked herself in her room. This wasn’t good enough for him.

A lot of men came to her door to ask to marry her, but none of them were good enough for her. She only wanted someone just like the old Mr. Fox.

Eventually someone new came. He was also a fox with nine tails, and probably a better person, actually. But before the new fox could ask her to marry and Mrs. Fox could say yes, old Mr. Fox came out screaming from wherever he was hiding and had a tantrum and bashed everyone. He acted like he had caught his wife cheating when it was really his fault and his stupid prank, which everyone had fallen for, like he had hoped. He was probably really mad because he found out he wasn’t special and there were guys just like him who could take his place.

And Mrs. Fox forgave him. She stayed with him because she was just as stupid, or maybe he hit her until she had brain damage and couldn’t run away.

After old Mr. Fox finally died, she used the same story. She only wanted someone who was just like the old Mr. Fox. And she did find a new Mr. Fox.

Some people don’t learn. There’s always guys just like the old Mr. Fox. If you don’t want to get hit you have to learn to wait and be patient and good and faithful. You have to LET him win. And then things will be ok. There had to be a reason why she married him to start with.
