Please, please forgive me for my final indiscretion.

There was so much I wanted to say but a protracted goodbye would have been a poor use of your time. As you know I have come to be a very wasteful and dawdling sort over the years, and it is because I know what I am that I have always found your drive a wonder. The monument you, all of you, built for an old rotting soul such as myself is nothing short of miraculous. It has been a blessing to stand alongside you even if it was only for a short time.

When you read this I can only hope I will already be gone…
